Elements and Performance Criteria
- Select waterproofing agents, plan work and prepare work area
- Select, use and store tools
- Appropriate hand and power tools are selected for the job
- Tools are examined for damage, missing components or other defects (including frayed power cords where applicable)
- Extension power cables are checked for knots and insulation damage
- Electrical tools are connected safely to power supply
- Safety equipment is used during tool operation in accordance with OHS practices
- Required tasks are performed using tools in accordance with OHS practices
- Tools are located in a safe position when not in use
- Tools and extension cords are cleaned and stored in accordance with industry and workplace OHS practices
- Clean, inspect and report on condition of product to be waterproofed
- Product is laid or hung out for examination
- Product is inspected and areas of weakness or damage are identified
- Results of product inspection are reported to supervisor, and authorisation is obtained for repairs or other treatment to be performed
- Workplace records regarding condition of product and authorisation for repair and treatment are completed
- Repair product and apply waterproofing agent
- Repairs are performed in accordance with authorisation and workplace procedures
- Work area is isolated from other unprotected workers
- Product is hung if necessary
- Product is cleaned prior to waterproofing
- Waterproofing agent is applied and allowed to air dry
- Spillage or excess waterproofing agent is cleaned up in accordance with workplace procedures and environmental regulations
- Waste products are disposed of in accordance with workplace procedures and environmental regulations
- Knowledge of waterproofing processes are applied to perform required tasks
- Test waterproofing and rework if necessary
- Store or despatch product and clean work area
- Product is removed and folded for storage or dispatch as required
- Waterproofing equipment is cleaned and maintained in accordance with manufacturer's specifications
- Documentation is completed in accordance with workplace requirements
- Work area is cleaned and tools and electrical equipment are returned to storage
